First aid!

Today has been a brilliant day, as I have been at work placement! It has been a particularly difficult week this week, so it has been excellent to enjoy communicating with the elderly service users!! We even had a music quiz today, which was extremely difficult, as I do not have a good understanding of old music! (Out team won the music quiz)!!

Please pray for my brother Matthew, as he is suffering from a broken heart, and really needs encouragement at this time!

On Monday, I have a first aid course at my college, which I am looking forward to, but nervous at the same time!! We have to give CPR to a critically injured individual, (or dummy)!

After Monday has been, we have a food hygiene course, with an exam afterwards!! Our college tutors are trying to cram everything in, as it is almost the end of term! Horrahhhyyy!

A small, quiet library!

Yesterday, I started working at a library in a small, remote area of Ashford, known as Bockhanger!

I now work every Saturday, one time at Stanhope library, and the alternative weeks, I work at Bockhanger library!! I really enjoy both of them, but there is much more work to do at Stanhope library!

I feel it is a shame that not many individual's use the library at both Bockhanger, and Stanhope, as there are a good selection of books, and dvds on offer to them!!

We had a total of about 8 people come into the library yesterday, sometimes, we have even less! It was still fun though, as I enjoy rearranging the books, and straightening them!!

Happy Birthday Mum!

Today is my mum's birthday, which we celebrated yesterday with a Chinese meal!! We had the immediate family round, where we all indulged in chicken balls, prawn crackers, mushroom chop suey (my favourite), and many other delicious treats!!

My mum is taking it easy today, and trying not to do many chores! In the afternoon, we are all eating a piece of my mum's favourite cake, Angel food cake! Unfortunately, you cannot buy angel food cake mix in England, so all of our family and friends have never tried a piece!!

Sunday, was a brilliant day, as we booked tickets in the West end to see Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour dream coat, with Joseph played by Lee!!

Winslow day hospital!!

Today, I woke early, with the sound of rain crashing down on my window! Suddenly, that awful feeling came to my stomach, as I remembered I had to start a new work placement today for my course!

I am situated at a day hospital/centre for the elderly at William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, which caters for elderly individual's, particularly with mental illnesses, such as: depression, and anxiety!!

I was extremely worried this morning, but once I arrived, I was welcomed by all the members of staff! Unlike other placements I have been on, the health professionals knew that they were having a student to join them!!

It was excellent, and I even managed to do some physiotherapy work with the elderly individual's, which was relaxing! It didn't feel as though I had done much work, because I mainly communicated with the elderly, whilst playing games with them!!

Light up the barbie....

Yesterday, Louise came round in the afternoon to play badminton at our local sports centre, which was brilliant!! Louise is excellent at playing badminton, and has improved greatly!

My dad still managed to play badminton, even though his knee is in much pain! He is definitely the greatest badminton player!!

The barbecue was lit by my dad, and we all enjoyed munching on my favourite - sausages!! Dessert was delicious too, raspberries!

Louise and I watched Any Dream will do, which is a reality television show, where Andrew Lloyd Webber chooses a man to play Joseph in the West end of London!! I was extremely disappointed though, because my favourite was voted off!
